Experience

GREETINGS!! I've been tutoring for over 20 years and above all else, I absolutely LOVE to see the light bulbs go off in my student's heads when they finally grasp a subject that they've been struggling with and I live for fostering the increased confidence and aptitude that comes with academic mastery. Aside from being extremely patient (I mean, hey, we've all been there, right? Everybody needs a little help sometime and I wouldn't want someone to be impatient with me ESPECIALLY if paying for a service), I treat my tutees the way I would want to be treated when learning. I respect each individual as a competent learner with their own learning style that just needs a hand at the moment to grasp a few concepts. We'll get through it!! As far as the technical stuff, I've tutored/taught all levels of math, science, language arts and test prep in elementary, high schools, colleges and universities, and nonprofits in major school districts such as Chicago, New York, DC, several cities in Florida, and now ATLANTA!! I have a BS in Mathematics with extensive study in the sciences, an MBA in finance & risk management, an MS in financial engineering, and am currently pursuing an MS in statistics from Kennesaw State University. I love working with middle, high school, and college students. I've tutored and facilitated classroom activities for all levels of mathematics through Calculus, including linear algebra, differential equations, probability & statistics and the sciences (biology, chemistry, physics). I've worked with Georgia students to pass Georgia Specific Exams (Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT), Georgia High School Writing Test (GHSWT), Georgia Milestones: End of Course (EOC) & End of Grade (EOG) Exams) and I have knowledge of common core. I have tutored students to success on Selective School Exams (Selective School Admissions Test (SSAT - Elementary, Middle, & Upper), Selective High School Admissions Test (SHSAT), Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)), College Readiness Exams (GED, AP, PSAT, SAT, ACT, COMPASS, CLEP), and Graduate School Exams (GRE, GMAT). I have a lot of experience with online/distance learners and home-schooled students. I have extensive professional and volunteer experience working in math and science with urban grade school, high school, and adult college students from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds and I have participated in and facilitated several programs that involve the mentoring, teaching, and tutoring of low income, “at-risk” populations in after school program settings and in classroom settings in all grade levels. I am also certified through the National Tutoring Association as a Master Level Tutor, Master Academic Coach, and Tutor Trainer. I have a firsthand grasp on what stimulates students to learn and prepare for their future. I can't wait to begin assisting you with your academic goals!! I look forward to hearing from you!
