I received my Bachelor of Art degree in Fine Art from the University of South Florida. I currently work for the Polk County Public School System as an elementary school tutor for kindergarten through third grade students. I am working through a program with AmeriCorps, where we are attempting to raise literacy rates. I currently tutor English, Art History, Reading, Social Studies, and Phonics. I tutor with homework organization, time management, and study skills. I am working toward my certification in elementary school teaching, and I hope to one day be a full time art teacher in an elementary school. I love art because it teaches children to express themselves in creative ways. Even if students do not want to pursue an art career, the skills of creative self expression are important and can have lifelong benefits. I have learned that everyone has their own unique style of learning, and as a tutor I work hard to utilize many different teaching methods to reach out to each individual learning style as needed to help my students find success. I am a lover of the arts, and I love to paint, draw, cook, and write. I also love spending time outside, and I love to hike.
